| Enjoy
The Sadness by Jet Kanashi
Wnen not in front of the camera, Jet Kanashi is behind the
microphone. Better known to some as a sought after model,
Jet Kanashi tells us his real passion has always been music.
That passion has materialized into the release of his debut
CD. Enjoy the Sadness is a Euro Pop masterpiece.
Kanashi bares the depths of his soul though his deep, haunting
vocals and lyrics about love, lust, loss.... and that passion
that lies within each of us to find more.

| Gorgeous
Girls by Kathy Briggs
There is something about Gorgeous Girls that makes
this CD special. Be it Brigg's rich, golden, honeysuckle voice,
or the comfortable feeling that you're sitting on a country
porch with good friends while Kathy spins her tales, you'll
love this CD.
A blend of country, folk and blues, the CD is a compilation
of songs written by Kathy Briggs over the last five years.
The theme is women: teachers, girls, moms, even Dorothy from
the Wizard of Oz.

| Let's
Get This On by Kelli Said
If I had one thing to do over on this CD review, it would
be to not have let it sit in the pile for so long. Months
passed that I could have been listening to it.
It took a few songs to warm up to Kelli Said. At first I
was reminded on Blondie and the female fronted bands of that
era. But as the music played on, it became clear it was decidedly
original despite the eighties influence.
|
|
| |
|
|
The songs are fast-paced hard
rock that remains meaningful and melodic. And if somehow the
first eight tracks don't hook you, the 9th will. "Seems
Strange," a remix of one of their earlier songs, will
carry you out of this world with a strong techno-dance beat
and provocative lyrics.
Bottom line: "Let's Get This On" is hot stuff.

| Think,
Feel, Love, Listen by Mojomama
The lovely Jessica Rowand has a message to be heard and it's
been set to some soulful, hip-shakin' music.
A more appropriate title could not be found. As with some
of the greats such as Peter, Paul and Mary or Joni Mitchell,
Mojomama seeks to heal the world about us through music. (Though
their sound is not to be confused with the above named artists).
In a world of copy cats, Mojomama dares to be original. |

|
|
Their music is a powerful blend
of soul, blues and rock. Pick up a copy of this CD and learn
to "Think, Feel, Love and Listen." Available at
Twist and Shout. Visit Mojomama.net

| Smoke
& Mirrors by Homebrew
If you can buy only one CD this year, this is the one to
get. Smoke & Mirrors features outstanding performances
by some of Denver's elite blues players and lead vocals by
Erica Brown, Shelby Johnson, Joe Oeser, Freddi Johnson &
Teresa Lynne.
Called "millineum blues with a healthy dose of funk,
jazz and rock influences," every song is a hit —
though you'll probably find yourself playing Fandango
in Paris over and over before making it all
the way through the CD.

| American
Mythology by Beto Hale
I don't understand half of what Beto Hale is saying in his
debut album American Mythology. Probably because
every other song is sung in Spanish, and the other half in
my native tongue, Pig Latin. Regardless, Beto makes
you feel...passion, joy, love, and like jammin' your way through
the day. Hale takes spiritual mythology and turns it into
more than a probability or wishful thinking.
You experience a colorful and diverse arrangement of music
ranging from pop to rock, to the most exotic blend of latino
and jazz rhythms. Hale's voice is so pure and unpretentious,
you get the feeling that some Higher Being is taking over
and seizing your heart and mind so we will finally get it
and see the light.

Insomnia
by Miggs
We expected to find a song somewhere on this CD titled Insomnia.
After listening to the CD we have a theory for the name: Play it
once and you want to hear it again. Second time through it sounds
even better... so you play it again. Next thing you know the sun
is coming up.
Miggs is a powerful rock band. Insomnia is a CD
you'll want to add to your music collection. In stores now or visit
